Q. What does the little books next to certain titles mean? ![]()
A. The little books icon means that it is a DCL edition book. A DCL edition book was scanned off for the DCL and follows the current DCL transcribing guidelines, (i.e. the footnotes and page number are present).
DCL edition books are HTML 4.01 compliant. Any current web browser will be able to view them, (i.e. Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, etc.)
Unfortunately, DCL editions are time consuming ventures, so that is why there are so few of them on the site. Hopefully this will change in the future as new processing tools become available.
Q. What does the little PDF sign next to a title mean?
![]()
A. This is a PDF Edition. A PDF Edition consists of black and white scans of the original book. Think of it as a digital facsimile edition. It is only a temporary edition and all PDF editions will be replaced with the OCR'd text as soon as it is completed. I have put these online in the event that some one may want access to a book I have scanned but not OCR'd as of yet.
To view PDF editions of a text you will need Adobe Accrobat Reader. You may download it here. If you are going to be reading a PDF edition a lot, please download the PDF document to your computer to help save bandwidth.
Q. What does the little DjVu sign next to a title mean?

A. This is a DjVu edition of the text. A DjVu edition is similar to a PDF edition but it is smaller and has many more useful features.
